HPW User Profile: Sharmine Narwani

After witnessing a couple of abusive comments by Huffington Post blogger Sharmine Narwani, I thought I would take a look through her comments and see what fell out. Here are some particularly insightful gems from her before we get to the overall list:

"One could even argue that Jewish disinformation against Muslim populations is a major contributor to growing Islamophobia and fear of Muslims in the West.""

"Ben, you are an irresponsible, slandering, propagandist of gargantuan proportions...."

"I believe the only long-term solution is a one-state solution."

"Hezbollah and Hamas are resistance groups..."

"These are dignity rockets.”

"Far be it for me to even guess at what it must be like to live in a modern day concentration camp, a ghetto, with rations, beatings, murders and the like.”

Sharmine Narwani has 60 posts, at least those that haven't been deleted.

Nir Rosen Apologizes After Joking About Lara Logan's Assault On Twitter
“Are you serious? We are talking about someone who made a flip comment before anyone had any idea of the details of the assault. I don't even know if we still have ANY details.
Nir did not commit a rape here, nor was he laughing at, mocking or encouragin
g rape. He was joking about yet another journalist potentially using their "brush with the mobs" to do an "Anderson." Get off your high horse and get some perspective.”

Blair: Fight Extremist Narrative
"We have been pursuing the wrong strategy entirely - one heavily promoted even before 9-11 by neocons and zionists - so, thank you, but no."

Blair: Fight Extremist Narrative
"I like how Israel's supporters always want to spend my money and have me spill my blood for them."

 Blair: Fight Extremist Narrative
"Salafist extremism is at the heart of those with a cosmic agenda. They are the Muslim world's Judeo-fascists and neocons.”

Israel's Human Shields and Live Bait
“No, I do not have to do any such thing. There is no symmetry in this conflict whatsoever. You can scream it from the rooftops, but there is no getting around the fact that Israel is the Occupier and Oppressor, and the Palestinians are the Occupied and the Oppressed....No matter what Israeli atrocity is under discussion, you defend it.”

Netanyahu's Biggest Insult to US Yet
"Pro-Israel types do view knowledge of the Arab world to be a dangerous thing - in case that sways a person's political perspective toward an "Arab" viewpoint.
"Which is in fact why pro-Israel interest groups actively screen anyone who comes near a decision making position in our government - to make sure there are no area experts on Middle East desks."

Netanyahu's Biggest Insult to US Yet
“Just 30 years ago, before AIPAC's coup d'etat in Washington, the State Department was filled with what was commonly known as "Arabists.'...Travel through most major Mideast countries and you can still meet plenty of Western diplomats who are at least conversant in the local language. Though that is usually inversely proportional to how actively a pro-Israel lobby operates in their home capitols.”

Israel's Lieberman at UN: Say What?
“No. Let him stay and offend and repulse. He is the true face of zionism, and we haven't had this level of honesty since Ariel Sharon was on the scene.”

Khaled Meshaal Interview: A Hamas Take on Mideast Geopolitics (Part 2)
“My sympathies do not lie with Israel, which I increasingly view as a trigger-happy and horrendously racist state that - along with Saudi Arabia - poses the greatest threat to world peace in our time."

Khaled Meshaal Interview: A Hamas Take on Mideast Geopolitics (Part 2)
"When this peace process is well and truly buried, Israel will not have a "cover" any longer to do what it "does." This is not a state that thrives in the sunlight.”

Israel Flotilla Raid Violated International Law, U.N. Council Says
Israel does not yet actually exist - it has no borders. Bit of a floater, so to speak.
I think the "world" learned from WW2's atrocities. That and the blogosphere will ensure that nobody looks the other way ever again, and you can be certain that this "world" will not ignore the crimes against humanity committed by Israel against the Palestinian and Lebanese people.”

Israel Seeks Release Of Jailed Spy In Exchange For Extending Settlement Freeze
“1. There is no "compromise" on justice - there is only compromise on the accommodation of that justice, ie, timelines, logistics, participants, parameters, etc."

A Solution to the Palestinian Refugees Issue
"One State is an idea that has suddenly found roots - including with some influential Israelis. What precisely is your objection? Not having a Jewish-only state? That is a racist idea anyway, and will never last if history is any guide. A bi-national state where everyone can co-exist is infinitely better and more fair than the status quo. This way everyone wins.”

 9/11/10 -- Unfinished Business Take #9
"You, sir, make Al Qaeda look civilized and humane.”

The Settlement Enterprise Has Run Its Course
“Take cover - the Settlers have arrived at the HuffPost.”  [Now deleted.]

“My sympathies do not lie with Israel, which I increasingly view as a trigger-happy and horrendously racist state that - along with Saudi Arabia - poses the greatest threat to world peace in our time.
But that does not make me a Hamas supporter. I happen to view them as being more rational than the former countries, and frankly, unless you have walked in my shoes and had the discussions I have had with members of this group, you cannot possibly contradict this view.
You will not find me harboring any romantic views of this group either - I am an avowed secularist in my personal life. I just happen to believe that the Middle East is largely Muslim and that they should vote in whomever they like. They will have to live with their decisions, make many mistakes, and then hopefully choose more wisely next time. I can assure you if we allowed the region to vote fairly, in 25 years, you would have real democratic progress in much of the Mideast - some governments would be Islamist, some secular, some leftist and some conservative."

Khaled Meshaal Interview: A Hamas Take on Mideast Geopolitics (Part 2)

"The occupied do not have to do squat. The occupier - Israel - can unilaterally end everything by quitting its occupation. What do you want Palestinians to do exactly? Dance a merry jig for Gush Emunim and shower them with rose petals? You want them to say "Forgive me for hating you when your sharpshooter puts a hole in my four-year-old's head as she plays hopscotch?"
You are distracted by semantics and minutiae - these are not the salient issues of this conflict. Until people like you fail to realize that Palestinians - whatever their political stripes - rightfully deserve justice, be it land, homes, compensation or whatever, nothing will be resolved.”

Khaled Meshaal Interview: A Hamas Take on Mideast Geopolitics (Part 2)
“Fanatic? You just called them "moderates" below. Your opportunism speaks volumes. Your commentary - less so - as it is abundantly clear that you have never met a Syrian official or member of Hamas in your life.
And yet you chatter away ad nauseum.”

Khaled Meshaal Interview: A Hamas Take on Mideast Geopolitics (Part 2)
“Sorry Occam. Despite your best efforts, the narrative keeps changing, and Israel is no longer driving it.
When this peace process is well and truly buried, Israel will not have a "cover" any longer to do what it "does." This is not a state that thrives in the sunlight.”

Ahmadinejad's Lesson for the Free World
"Same kind of thing happening with the words "anti-Semite" and "Terrorist." They no longer have any shock quality - and are frankly becoming associated mainly with an effort to silence debate."

Deporting the "Son of Hamas": A Betrayal of American Values

“You must have mistaken me for the actress/Hamas "expert."”

Deporting the "Son of Hamas": A Betrayal of American Values

“Amazing...the lemmings on this comment board."

The Hezbo(ti)lla

"Ben, you are an irresponsible, slandering, propagandist of gargantuan proportions....
You and your lying cronies who will do anything to support Israel - no matter what it does - are opportunistically trying to set the stage for an Israeli attack on the Mariam...
Your deliberate disinformation campaign can put lives at risk. You and the AJC should be ashamed for targeting innocent civilians. You do know what the international community calls those who do that, right?”

Helen Thomas & the Gaza Flotilla

"I understand the emotional desire for this state to "be" among many well-meaning people, but let's call an apple an apple. Helen Thomas raised an important point though she did not have an opportunity to expound. Why are the settlers prior to 1948 any different than those who settled after 1967?
As Israel shows its stripes, I think these questions need to be addressed. Sixty plus years after this ethno-nationalist experiment, you have a highly militarized, internationally-derided state that could not possibly thrive without the US crutch. If the US balks and the Israeli right-wing keep going from strength to strength as global pressures against them rise, we could potentially have a Masada-type situation - with 200 nukes thrown into the picture to keep us guessing.
I realize this is sensitive stuff, but it needs to be said. Let's take off the blinders and be brutally honest for a change.
I believe the only long-term solution is a one-state solution - Jews, Muslims, Christians living under one law as equals in the whole of Israel and occupied Palestine. It has been done before.”"

"Between 2000 and 2008, Israel broke every single ceasefire with Hamas that lasted more than 9 days. The Mideast is chock full of myths. Palestinians in Gaza have every right to retaliate when attacked, and they are frequently and brutally assaulted by Israeli firepower - let alone the daily deprivations that accompany the siege.
These are dignity rockets.

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

"As we are on the subject, however, I would remind you that many who make a comparison between Zionism and Nazism happen to be Jews. From Holocaust survivors who arrived at war's end to Palestine and commented on the parallels with the fledgling Zionist movement with their Deir Yassins, Sterns and Irguns,,, to prominent anti-Zionist Jews like political scientist Norman Finkelstein and British Member of Parliament Gerald Kaufman.
Whether you find these accounts and comparisons credible or not is besides the point. I am merely pointing out that it was often Jews, since the end of World War II, that drew these parallels.
And I don't think it is wise to tell Palestinians what to think or how to say it. Far be it for me to even guess at what it must be like to live in a modern day concentration camp, a ghetto, with rations, beatings, murders and the like.”

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

"Maronites also teamed up with Israel to commit a 3-day massacre of Palestinian refugees in Sabra and Shatila. " [Revisionist history.]

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

Hezbollah and Hamas are resistance groups....Occupation is an ugly business and as long as Israel continues its illegal occupation in violation of countless UN resolutions, populations will rightfully defend what is theirs. Please do not forget that Israel is the occupier and the Palestinians are the occupied. The occupier is the aggressor by definition.
You can spin your drivel for all you're worth - it doesn't make an orange an apple.”

“Really? They should have wiped out the entire ship? Killing 600+ civilians who wanted to end the illegal and universally condemned blockade of Gaza, a modern day concentration camp for 1.5 million Palestinians?
Solution - I think you should change your name to "Final Solution." It would be more fitting.”

"No, this is not a battle between two equal sides, where we weigh up the injustices, grievances and dead for an artificial comparison. The Occupied, under international law, have every right to fight occupation to regain their territory. This is what is called "Resistance" - something we glorify and romanticize in our own wars - but strangely, not in the Middle East where the Occupier gets to inflict "disproportionate" harm on the Occupied every day for "defensive" purposes."

“Debate without defamation is critical on contentious issues. The HuffPost offers us all a place to engage intelligently with others who may oppose our own views. It is important that we safeguard this unique environment." [Very ironic.]

Israel, through its aggressive promotion of "Hasbara" or propaganda, lacks a great deal of credibiltiy these days. Though they are pooh-poohing the Goldstone report as insignificant, this is what is going on behind the sceneshttp://www.counterpunch.org/cook07212009.html
[Note the link.]

“While I do agree that so many of our leaders are "intent on twisting, distorting and ignoring the truth," I wonder at your statement that the Jewish people are the greatest victims of disinformation. Certainly today, one could even argue that Jewish disinformation against Muslim populations is a major contributor to growing Islamophobia and fear of Muslims in the West."

  1. Clearly Narwani is an anti-Semite of the first order, and in the pay of the Gulf backed de-legitimization campaign. What troubles me most is her close access to opinion makers and high sources.

Unlike AIPAC which is an American lobbying group and is open and above board - there is a vast network of NGO's and individuals operating on behest of the Arab interests and funded with Arab money. These connections need to be exposed and challenged.

  2. They won't be. I have respect for Sharmine Narwani. She says openly what other anti-Zios think but don't have the guts to say.

That Israel needs to be destroyed and another Arab state (the "one state solution") put in its place. The rest of them simply pretend if Israel is nice to those who hate it, peace is around the corner waiting to happen.

Narwani tears that fig leaf completely to shreds. She's as extreme an anti-Zio as we've seen on the HP and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of her on there.

Hey guys we've started to employ a slight comment policy. We used to have completely open comments but then people abused it. So our comment policy is such: No obvious trolling or spamming. And be warned: unlike the Huffington Post we actually enforce our comment policy.
