Meanwhile, on Planet Earth, we've got some actual facts to consider, courtesy of Elder of Ziyon.
Anti-Islam hate crimes in New York State increased by a whopping 37.5% in 2009 compared to 2008, according to a new hate crimes report released by New York State.
This was more than double the increase of anti-Semitic crimes, which went up by only 15%.
-------------------------------------------
Of course, one needs a little context.
The number of anti-Muslim hate crimes increased from 8 to 11.
The number of anti-Semitic hate crimes increased from 219 to 251.
So, in the state that witnessed the death of nearly 3000 people at the hand of Muslim terrorists, there are nearly 23 times as many crimes against Jews compared to Muslims. His source? The NY Post quoting the state Division of Criminal Justice.
So you can make your choice about what to believe. You can believe MJ Rosenberg, who will tell you that attacks on Jews are no big deal and the Jews are just being "too sensitive". Or you can believe New York's criminal justice system, who will tell you that there were over 200 incidents of anti-Jewish hate crimes in New York State alone in 2009. I've made mine.
Yup. Anti-Semitism is a very big deal. Islamophobia, despite all the media hype, is at best, a minor problem.
ReplyDeleteJust don't look for the HP to enlighten its readers about that contrast and its real significance for today's world.
The reason why there are apparently far more Anti-Semitic vs. Anti-Muslim hate crimes is due to 2 reasons. 1) The Muslim population, being largely immigrant, do not have a habit of reporting crimes inflicted against them to the police. And 2) Jewish victims of hate crimes, well, let's be honest. We all know how whiny and litigious you people can be. Amirite?
