The HuffPo's Selective Reporting on Iran

In the interests of full disclosure, I'm going to come right out and make it clear that I don't support an American or Israeli war on Iran at this time. It's not an issue I feel well informed enough about to make a clear opinion, especially when the stakes are so high. That being said, I can tell biased and one-sided reporting when I see it. Let's start with an opinion that the Huffington Post ignores:

"Iran poses a laundry list of threats to U.S. national security, according to top officials in the intelligence community. 

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday that Iran poses a threat on a number of fronts, including its ability to develop a nuclear weapon, and the fact that any nuclear attack would likely be delivered by a ballistic missile. 

'Iran already has the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the Middle East, and it is expanding the scale, reach, and sophistication of its ballistic missile force, many of which are inherently capable of carrying a nuclear payload,' Clapper said during his opening remarks to the committee. 

The question for the intelligence community remains whether Iran, in particular Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, either already has decided or will decide to pull the trigger when it comes to taking the country's nuclear knowledge and applying it to the actual development of a nuclear weapon."

Now before you get on my base, I know that there are as many different opinions about Iran as there are stars in the sky. And I'm also aware that Mossad operatives feel the exact opposite of Mr. Clapper. But let's compare the coverage of Mr. Clapper (i.e. none at all) with this article:

Unfortunately, to my eternal regret, I missed the original headline of the article. Basically it had a screaming headline at the top of the "World" section (like usual) but instead of naming Mr. Trita Parsi it said "Expert Says..." So yeah. But I'm getting ahead of myself, who is Trita Parsi? (Emphasis mine)

"Trita Parsi, the author of "A Single Roll of the Dice: Obama's Diplomacy With Iran," spoke to The Huffington Post during a visit to the D.C. bureau earlier this week...."Even at the best case scenario, even if it managed to set the program back two or three years, all it would do, most likely, is it would redouble the Iranian desire for a nuclear deterrence, precisely because they were attacked," said Parsi, who is the president of the National Iranian American Council. "

So Mr. Parsi wrote a book and is the head of an Iranian-American organization. Okay. This leads to ask two questions:

1. What qualifies Mr. Parsi's opinions to be given more attention than Mr. Clapper, considering they both came out on the same day? Is it because Mr. Parsi told the Huffington Post what they wanted to hear and Mr. Clapper did not?

2. If it were a Jewish-American president of an American Jewish organization saying anything except complete capitulation toward Iran, how loud do you think the screams of "Israel firster" (or worse) would ring?

As it stands there was plenty of Israel blaming anyway:

But that part is definitely not news.
