"Pinkwashing", as we've discussed numerous times already, is what happens when people obsessed with hating Israel run up against the fact that Israel isn't all bad and when allegedly liberal people need to reconcile Israel's liberal views towards gays vs. the Palestinians' hatred of gays. Today I present to you the hypocrisy of pinkwashing.
The Huffington Post published two Israel/gay articles, one about Tel Aviv's gay pride parade and one about a photo of two openly gay Israeli soldiers. While most of the comments were positive, there were some about you-know-what:
So according to the rules that the Israel haters have laid down, when there's an article about Israel's gays, it's perfectly fine to bring up the occupation and Israel's conflict with the poor suffering Palestinians (tm). But when there's an article about the occupation or why Americans should support Israel, it's "pinkwashing" to bring up Israel's gay rights record as part of the discussion.
It's not hypocrisy, it's just that apologists for the racist, Islamist, homophobic, misogynist Palestinians have to control the debate if they want a prayer of winning an argument.
