In an addendum to the previous post comparing the number of comments in the Syria river massacre article versus the Israeli settlements article, I decided to compare and contrast the top 5 most favorited comments from each thread. Let's do the Israel ones first:
All right, that's some strong rhetoric. You see words like "illegal," "immoral," "barbaric," "hypocritical."
Now let's take a look at the top 5 from the Syrian thread:
Disinterested, dispassionate, apathy. You see phrases like "don't ask the US to give any more," "couldn't care less," "oh well," and arguments for and against gun control.
What is it about Israeli settlements that can enrage the passions of the HPers that 65 murdered Syrians don't have? Is it because the Syrians weren't murdered by Jews?
