If you haven't seen the news Argentina said that they sold Israel yellow cake back in 1961, which is used for the development of nuclear weapons. Then Lando tells us that the Eisenhower administration knew that Israel was developing nuclear weapons and didn't care:
"The reason was evident: Eisenhower publicly was a strong advocate of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT). If he was formally to "know" of Israel's nuclear program, he would be obliged to react -- against Israel. Which, in the U.S. could mean serious political consequences."You may think that Lando is going for the Zionist Occupied Government conspiracy theory (again), but it sounds more like Eisenhower just didn't want to be a hypocrite regarding the NPT. That is, until you get to the end and realize that no, it's the Jews who are behind it all along:
"The Eisenhower administration, however, had no stomach to take on Israel and its American lobby. Despite the reports of CIA analysts, Ben Gurion's denials went unchallenged."Sure, that's the reason. Not because Israel is an American ally threatened with destruction on a daily basis, and accordingly is probably the one country in the world that actually needs nuclear weapons to prevent wars against it. It must be because of the "lobby." Let's leave him with some griping:
"That hypocrisy would remain official America's policy to this day -- even as U.S. presidents decried the attempts of countries like Iran, North Korea, Syria, India, Pakistan, Libya and Iraq to themselves develop the bomb."If treating your allies differently then your enemies is "hypocrisy" then sign me up for the Hypocrite Train, Barry. You'll notice that America is not the only country that doesn't mind Israel's program of nuclear ambiguity. Even the Arabs have realize that they can trust Israel with nuclear weapons in a way that they can't trust places like Syria and Iran. But Lando would rather complain about Jews and Israel, so here we are. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has moved on.
It just goes to show that no matter what else is happening in the world, the Huffington Post can always find something Israel related to complain about.
